Application: Hartmarx Enterprise Data Warehouse

Business Problem

Hartmarx's enterprise operational systems were on mainframe and they have recently implemented SAP. Their reporting used to be static paper reports from mainframe that were cumbersome to produce and distribute. The data being static, didn't allow for easy analysis.

Solution

JSC built a Data Warehouse for Hartmarx that stores the main data segments: Shipment, Customer Status, & Inventory. JSC also built a web based reporting portal with reports based on customer requirements, using the Shipment, Customer Status, & Inventory data. These reports are accessible on the web, with ability to export to Excel and pdf. There also the ability to email the reports to designated recipients as attachments. The reports are very flexible with filtering and drill down capability.

Benefits

This solution provided Hartmarx web based access to their data that was flexible and actionable. Any number of formats or flavors of the reports were available due to the technology used. The distribution issues were also resolved; that reports were now available, moment the data was refreshed as opposed to 3-5 days that were needed to mail the hardcopy reports.

By using Microsoft SQL Server Data Base and MS Reporting Services for report development, we built a low cost solution for Hartmarx that satisfied their information needs, while they could focus on the strategic initiative of SAP implementation. Now, it gives them the flexibility to continue to meet their information needs, while deciding what the long term reporting solution needs might be.

Application: Masterpiece - Event Management System for Masterplan, Inc.

Business Problem

Masterplan was using an MS Access based Event Management System that was not web based, not scalable, with lack of flexibility in lot of the functions.

Solution

JSC built a web based Event Management System using .NET and MS SQL Server technology. While building it, we not only replicated the entire MS Access functionality, but also made several improvements by leveraging all the capabilities of the state of the art technology, introduced additional business functionality based on customer requirements.

Masterplan now has web based, scalable solution that better needs their business as well as growth needs. System performance is better, with ability to scale on number of transactions and concurrent users. New features get added much more easily and quickly.
